Library media materials are cataloged in the Library's online
catalog. Display boxes for videos are shelved on the second
floor in the Media Software Collection near the student computers.
Inquire at the Circulation Desk for the actual video you
need or any other media material which you may find in the
catalog.
All media materials and equipment, for use inside or outside
the Library, need to be checked out at the Circulation Desk
using your valid barcoded RCC ID card.
Faculty and Staff Policies
Faculty and staff may borrow media materials and equipment
for classroom instruction. To avoid disappointment, media
materials should be previewed prior to use.
To increase the likelihood of equipment availability, make
requests three days in advance. Requests are honored on a "first
come first served" basis. We encourage you to plan ahead.
Same day walk-in requests are allowed but discouraged. Faculty
and staff members get FIVE walk-in media requests per semester.
To reserve media materials and equipment:
Fill out a media request form at the Help Desk and leave
it at the Circulation Desk or
reserve on line by selecting Media Materials & Equipment
Request.
Occasionally, the Library has student media aides who deliver
equipment to the classroom. The Library will contact you
if this service is available. Otherwise, you should plan
to pick up and return the equipment and materials yourself
on a Library supplied media cart. When you come to pick up
your equipment, please bring your copy of the AVF-01 request
form with you.
Semester Equipment Loans are available for frequent users
of the same equipment. Borrowers are always responsible for
equipment security. Equipment must be returned to the Library
for maintenance at the end of the semester. The Library may
recall semester loan equipment for emergency use.
The Library accepts responsibility for maintenance and repair
of all Library equipment. Please report broken equipment
and all equipment dropped in transport.
The Library also offers equipment training and audio and videotape
recording sessions. These require a two-week notice.
Please note: Use of Library media equipment and materials,
that is not in support of teaching, learning or authorized
college activities or which does not comply with Library
policies or U.S. copyright law, is not authorized by the
College.
Student Policies
Normally, students can only use media equipment and materials
in the Library. Once you have located the media material
you want, bring it to the Circulation Desk. Library staff
will assist you in setting up equipment and instruct you
in its operation. When you are finished, place the program
back in its container, turn off all equipment, disconnect
equipment cords and return the program to the Circulation
Desk.
Students may also borrow media materials and equipment outside
of the Library if it is to be used for a verified RCC club
activity on campus. Fill out an AV Materials and Equipment
Request Form three days in advance accompanied by a signed
endorsement of a Club Advisor, Student Activities Director,
or Dean of Students. Leave these at the Circulation Desk.
Loan of materials and equipment is subject to availability.
