Letter to the Community Regarding the Reggie Lewis Center

Dear Community Members:

There have been many strong concerns raised by the Greater Roxbury Community about the current situation with the Reggie Lewis Center. We have heard you and your passion and love for the Reggie Lewis Center are evident. It is clear we all want the same thing: the continuation of service, access for the community, and a connection to the college.

The Reggie Lewis Center is the home of hundreds of Massachusetts Track and Field teams, our own athletics teams, and many other athletic events. It's a community center that serves and supports our seniors, our children, and our youth. It is a meeting place for local businesses, community-based organizations, and other agencies that provide services for our young people and community.

We are firmly committed to ensuring the Reggie Lewis Center remains a beacon for the community. That effort will be balanced with the RCC's mission to remain a fully accredited institution that is focused on guaranteeing its students are receiving a first-class education. To remain accredited, we must meet our fiduciary obligations.

Know that the college will continue to work with community members, legislators and employees to determine the best solution that ensures that missions of both the Reggie Lewis Center and the College can be met and that we can continue to provide high-quality programs and services to the community and to our students.
