Office 365 Education is a collection of services that allows you to collaborate and share your schoolwork. It’s available for free to teachers who are currently working at an academic institution and to students who are currently attending an academic institution. The service includes Office Online (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote), 1TB of OneDrive storage, Yammer, and SharePoint sites.

Email

The RCC student e-mail system is powered by Gmail, Google’s e-mail system. All RCC students are assigned an e-mail account (<First initial + Middle initial + Last name @roxbury.edu>). This is RCC’s official electronic messaging system for students and the only e-mail the college will use to communicate important school information.
NOTE: E-mail accounts for new students may take up to 48 hours to become active.

Logging into your RCC Student E-mail:

To access your RCC student e-mail, follow the steps below:

  1. Open an internet browser (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari).
  2. In the web address field enter the following URL: http://mail.roxbury.edu(see Figure 2)
  3. Click on the text Sign in (located in the top right corner, in the E-mail block, or the Announcements block).
  4. Type your username and password, then click on the Sign In button.
    1. Your username is the first part of your e-mail address (without the @roxbury.edu). For example, if your e-mail is JMSmith4@roxbury.edu, your username is JMSimth4.
    2. Your default password is rcc + student ID. For example, if your student ID is 12345, your password is rcc12345.

BEST PRACTICE: We recommend that you change your default password to something more secure and something you will remember. Once you have logged in, you can change your password under your e-mail Settings->Accounts.

Email set-up for Smart Phones

Android
Please note: Your email account is a gmail account with @roxbury.edu.
Follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Accounts > Add Account
  2. Choose Google
  3. Fill in your email address
  4. Click next and enter your password
  5. Now fill in the information requested:
  6. Click Next
  7. Advanced setting Use SSL

You should now be connected to your Student Email Account.

iPhone
Please note: Your email account is a gmail account with @roxbury.edu.
Follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars
  2. Under Accounts, choose Add Account
  3. Choose Google
  4. Now fill in the information requested:
  5. Click Next
  6. Server Name: Gmail SMTP
  7. You must accept the Security Certificate in order to send and receive emails

You should now be connected to your Student Email Account.

Moodle

Moodle is a web-based Course Management System (CMS) or Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Moodle stands for “Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment”. It is an open source software system designed using sound educational principles that help educators create effective online learning communities.

Logging into your Online Course:

To log into your online course in Moodle, follow the steps below.

  1. Open an internet browser (Firefox works best with Moodle) and
  2. In the web address field, type: http://moodle.rcc.mass.edu
  3. Type your username and password.Your username is the first part of your e-mail address (without the @roxbury.edu). For example, if your e-mail is JMSmith4@roxbury.edu, your username is JMSimth4.Your default password is your student ID. For example: 12345.
  4. Click on the Login button.
  5. Click on the link of the course you want to enter

MyRCC

MyRCC is RCC’s self-service student and faculty portal. This is where students can register for classes, see their schedule, make payments, access course materials, view grades, get an unofficial transcript and keep abreast of RCC’s student events.

All student information is maintained in RCC’s ERP system, Jenzabar EX, and made available through the MyRCC web portal. This system is the engine that drives all administrative processes for Admissions, Advising, Registration, Scheduling, Financial Aid, Finance, and eLearning. MyRCC provides a common platform for faculty, staff and student interaction and allows students to manage their academic information.

Student username will be first initial, middle initial (if applicable), last name.
There is a default password to be used the first time you log in to your student email account. The default password is:

  • The first 4 digits of your student number
  • The last 2 digits of your birth year
  • The first initial of your first name (upper case)
  • The first initial of your last name (lower case)

NOTE: If you don't know your Password: Please go to the IT department for assistance. It is located in Room 333, on the 3th floor of Academic Building.

Login Help/RCC MyID

Students will have only one username and password for use with MyRCC / E-Learning and Pharos. Email and Moodle will have the same username but the password will be different. We are working toward only one username and password for everything.

Student Username Format

Student username will be first initial, middle initial (if applicable), last name. Your username will be used to log in to MyRCC, Pharos, email, and Moodle.Student Username are made up of the first initial followed by middle initial (if provided) and then last name

  • example: John J. Smith = jjsmith (all lower case and nospaces)
  • example: Jane J. Smith = jjsmith1 (in case of duplicate, a number will be added incrementally)
  • example: Jane Smith = jsmith (if no middle initial provided)

There is a default password to be used the first time you log in to your MyRCC account. The default password is:

Password Reset Tool

RCC MyID is a web-based application which enables you to reset your Network password or unlock your account for the following systems on campus:

  • MyRCC / E-Learning
  • Pharos

To access RCC MyID:

  1. Go to RCC MyID at https://myid.rcc.mass.edu
  2. Using the link above, log in with your RCC username and password.
  3. You will be asked to enroll, this process must be completed to be able to reset password or unlock account.
  4. When you choose to reset your password your MyRCC, Pharos and E-Learning password will be reset.

Student Email and Moodle passwords are not available through the RCC MyID web-based application.

Please Note: For new students it will take 24-48 hours after you are admitted to generate/ display your login information. RCC MyID Enroll process consists of choosing security questions.
