Mission:

 

Roxbury Community College Foundation, Inc.’s (the Foundation) mission is to seek and distribute resources to support and benefit the students, programs, activities and facilities of Roxbury Community College (the College) of Roxbury, Massachusetts. 

The Foundation is organized and operated exclusively for the benefit of the College and its students. In accordance with Massachusetts public law regarding the establishment of foundations for the benefit of institutions of higher education, the Board of Directors of the College has certified the Foundation as the official foundation and sole fundraising agent for non-government funds for the College.  In the event the College revokes the certification, the Foundation may no longer use the name of the College for fundraising or any purpose without the written permission of the College.

The College's accounting policies and financial statement presentation are governed by standards issued by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).  Consistent with the provisions of GASB Statement Nos. 14 and 39, the financial information of the Foundation will be presented in the financial statements of the College as a component unit.

The Foundation is exempt from Federal income taxes as a not-for-profit organization (not a private foundation) formed for charitable purposes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation is also exempt from state income taxes.  Donors may deduct contributions made to the Foundation within the requirements of the Internal Revenue Code.
