Coach Mark Leszczyk is entering his seventh year with the Roxbury Community College Women’s Basketball Team. Last season, Leszczyk led the Lady Tigers to a 19-7 regular season record, a MCCAC Conference Championship, Region XXI Championship and An appearance at the NJCAA National Tournament, where they placed 3rd.
Throughout the past 6 years at Roxbury, the lady Tigers have been nationally ranked in the top 10 the last 4 years and in the top 5 the last 3 years
Leszczyk is a Glocester, R.I., resident with several years of coaching experience. He came to RCC in 2007 after three years of coaching Dean College’s Women’s Basketball Team, which he guided to a 55-21 overall record and back-to-back appearances in the NJCAA Region XXI Div II Championship Games.
During his Dean tenure, Leszczyk helped two of his players earn Academic All-American honors and several players earn scholarships to Division I and Division II colleges that play at the NCAA level. Six players received Academic Achievement awards from Dean.
Leszczyk founded Rhode Island’s Ocean State Pride Amateur Athletic Union program. He is also the Region I Northeast Representative for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.
During his tenure at RCC, Coach Leszczyk has had an overall record of 131-35. His Lady Tigers have had 5 consecutive Undefeated MCCAC seasons. (09, 10, 11, 12, 13), 3 straight Regional Championships (10, 11, 12), 3 appearances National Tournament reached finals (10,11,12) and have produced 3 All Americans: Jesika Holmes (2010), Tyler Kimball (2011), and Shannon Samuels (2012). He has also received coaching accolades such as, Region XXI Coach of the Year (2009), Rawlings National Junior College Coach of the Year (2010) and District F Coach of the Year (10, 11).
