Series Description and Scope
This series documents the founding of Roxbury Community College, from negotiations beginning in 1968, to the opening of its doors to students in 1973, as well as its first decade and a half as an institution of higher learning. The series traces the early history of the College and highlights the academic, administrative, and physical changes it underwent in this fifteen-year period. The series consists of academic department records, dated 1977 through 1983, administrative records, dated 1975 through 1980, by-laws, facilities and buildings records, dated 1975 through 1987, original documents, reports, dated 1975, 1984, and student records, dated 1976-1977, and also includes newspaper clippings, dated 1984-2003. A highlight from the series also includes site and facilities documents and reports, dated 1973 through 1980, regarding the College's efforts to establish a permanent campus
