DISPLAY FOR HUMAN RIGHTS DAY

Come see 28 stunning color photographs of refugee victims of the crisis in the Dafur region of Sudan.  They are in the library windows this month.  Jeffrey Cornish, Country Director of Sudan Operations for Concern Worldwide, an international aid organization took them.  The photographs are on loan to the library from Veronica McCormack of the ESL department.   This display highlights Human Rights Day, December 10.  It also coordinates with a panel discussion on the topic organized by Nancy Teel of the English faculty.  The panel will feature Cynthia Gabriel of Amnesty International and Patrick Seyon, Dean of Liberal Arts.  This will be held in Room 121 in the Academic Building, December 10 from 10:30 to 12:00.  Students and faculty will have a chance to ask questions and offer their input.

Also on display at the entrance to the library:  a selection of books dealing with various aspects of human rights.

STUDENTS GIVE THUMBS UP TO NEW COPIERS

After 10 years and some 2 million copies per machine, the library finally has new copy machines.  They print on both sides!  They collate!  They accept bills!  They even (if you can believe it) give change back!  On the negative side, library staff will miss seeing Pablo Llanos, manager of the Copy Center, who has been a frequent visitor tirelessly repairing the old relics.  But students are generally enthusiastic.  Judith St. Cyr and Julius Parker, pictured here, were among the first users.
