There are currently four subunits within the department, namely: Capital Facilities Planning, Maintenance Operations, Custodial Services, and Public Safety/Campus Security, employing approximately 24 full‑time staff who maintain the four major buildings with approximately 261,000 net assignable square feet; three parking lots that accommodate 620 vehicles; a land area that covers 13.3 acres, (excluding the grounds of the Reggie Lewis Center); and a fleet of two vehicles.

The department is not an abstract phenomenon; we are a people seriously trying to fulfill our own share of the goal of the College. We are part and parcel of the RCC family. You see us moving furniture and boxes, cleaning, fixing a lock, keeping the peace, and performing those arduous tasks that only we can handle. The Facilities and Public Safety Department is aware that as a faculty, staff or student, you are a vital key to the existence and certainly, the future of our great institution. As students you expect adequate and comfortable study environment; faculty and staff expect conducive offices; both students and faculty expect structurally pleasing and clean classrooms; and students, faculty and staff expect modern/state-of-the-art equipment, prompt response to your needs, appropriate and adequate supplies, well maintained, sufficient and sensible parking; and above all, a safe, clean environment in which to teach, work or study.
