Roxbury Community College Names Rob Hale as Keynote Speaker at its Commencement Ceremony

BOSTON – Roxbury Community College (RCC) will honor the Class of 2022 in person at the College’s 46th commencement ceremony on Friday, May 13, 2022. The College will host the graduation ceremony in the field house at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center, located at 1350 Tremont Street in Roxbury.

Robert (Rob) T. Hale has been named the 2022 Commencement Keynote Speaker. He is the co-founder and president of Granite Communications, LLC, a communications company with its headquarters in Quincy, MA. Hale is also an owner and director of the Boston Celtics.

“I am truly excited to meet the Class of 2022,” said Hale. “They have persevered through so many challenges. I am honored to spend the day with them.”

Hale is known for his acts of philanthropy and generosity. He has held leadership roles at Boston Children’s Hospital, The Massachusetts Soldier’s Legacy Fund, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Deerfield Academy, Connecticut College, and Brigham & Women’s Hospital where he currently co-chairs the $1.5B Life.Giving.Breakthroughs. campaign to transform the future of medicine. He is a graduate of Connecticut College.

“We are delighted Rob will be our speaker as we honor the resilient RCC Class of 2022,” says Roxbury Community College Interim President Jackie Jenkins-Scott. “We are looking forward to having him share his wisdom with our graduating students.”

The Roxbury Community College Class of 2022 exemplifies the talent, determination, and perseverance the College is known for, especially given the challenges of the pandemic. The majority of the students are receiving degrees in either healthcare or STEM fields. Approximately 68% of the class lives in Boston, with 25% calling Dorchester home.
