Roxbury Community College Women & Men Basketball Teams Qualify for the National Championships

PepRalley15(Roxbury, MA)) In an historic move after winning respective state championships, Roxbury Community College (RCC) is sending both its women’s and men’s basketball teams to the NJCCA Division III National Tournaments. This marks the third time since 2008 that RCC has had both teams (women and men) qualify for the national tournament. The games take place March 12-14, 2015. The tournament schedules are as follows:

Earlier this month, the Massachusetts state champions, the RCC Lady Tigers, defeated Bunker Hill Community College, 115-53, to win the NJCAA Division III, District F Championship at Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester, MA.

 Meanwhile, the RCC Men’s team defeated Springfield Technical Community College, 80-63 to win the NJCAA Division III, District VIII Championship, at Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester, MA. The Tigers dedicated their win to the memory of Alex DeSouto.

Dr. Valerie Roberson, President of RCC, said, “Our men’s and women’s basketball teams, coaches, trainers and athletic staff made us proud with this historic accomplishment.We thank all of the students, faculty, staff, family and friends who support the Roxbury Community College Athletic Program.
