Most new students are required to take the College Placement Test, which assesses readiness for college-level English and mathematics courses. There is no “pass” or “fail”—your scores simply help determine whether you should begin in college-level or developmental coursework. Students may take each section of the Placement Test up to three times within a 12-month period. Placement testing is also required for non-degree and dual-enrollment students unless an exemption applies.
High School Equivalency Testing (HiSET and GED)
RCC offers both the HiSET and GED exams, providing students with pathways to earn
a high school equivalency credential and demonstrate college readiness.
Credit by Examination (CLEP)
Students may also take College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) tests to earn college
credit for knowledge gained outside the classroom, allowing them to accelerate their
academic progress.
TEAS Testing
The TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills), required for admission to certain healthcare
programs, is offered in person at RCC at the beginning of the Fall and Spring semesters.
