Transfer Engagement Events

RCC Transfer Services hosts many engagement events throughout the academic year:

Mass Transfer

www.mass.edu/masstransfer

MassTransfer is a collaboration between the Commonwealth’s community colleges, state universities, and the University of Massachusetts system. The goal of MassTransfer is for students to transfer seamlessly from their community college to a State University/UMass campus. The following bachelor institutions participate in MassTransfer:

MassTransfer consists of three main components to aid students in their state transfer process:

Students are encouraged to visit Roxbury Community College’s Transfer Services webpage, https://www.rcc.mass.edu/succeed/transfer-services.html, to learn more about each component within MassTransfer or visit the MA Department of Higher Education’s website www.mass.edu/masstransfer to view the specific degree programs at RCC that are MT eligible.

Mass Transfer policies and guidelines are periodically reviewed and updated and can be subject to change by the Commonwealth of MA Department of Higher Education in tandem with the MA system of Higher Education.

The Massachusetts Guarantee

The Massachusetts Guarantee is a partnership (through the New England Board of Higher Education, NEBHE) between the state’s community colleges and many state private independent colleges and universities. Based on MassTransfer, the goal of this program is seamless transfer to many private colleges in Massachusetts with the following benefits:

There are many colleges participating in the Massachusetts Guarantee program. Visit: https://www.mass.edu/masstransfer/maguarantee/home.asp for a full list.

Transfer Articulation Agreements

RCC has established transfer agreements with many private colleges and universities to assist students with a seamless transfer process. The design and goal of a transfer articulation agreement is to maximize course transfer in specific majors between institutions. Visit the RCC Transfer Services website for a list of RCC transfer articulation agreements: www.rcc.mass.edu/succeed/transfer-services.html

Transfer Student Scholarships

Navigating the world of transfer student scholarships can be challenging. There are many colleges/universities that have their own scholarships (often called merit scholarships). There are also private and public non-profit organizations that offer scholarship opportunities for transfer students. Visit RCC’s transfer webpage to view what four-year colleges offer transfer scholarships to their college or university: https://www.rcc.mass.edu/current-students/transfer-services/index.html

Transfer Equivalency Databases

To determine whether courses transfer from RCC to four-year colleges/universities, it is important to understand a few key factors:

Transfer Application Process

STEP ONE: Apply

Applying to college/university as a transfer student will have its own deadlines and requirements. Once you have decided on which colleges/universities you are applying to, consider the following:

If you are applying to a selective four-year private college/university, review their full admissions application deadlines and requirements. Many schools will most likely be using the Common Application. Click here for a step-by-step guide and video tutorial on how to apply via the Common Application for transfer students: https://www.commonapp.org/apply/transfer-students

STEP TWO: Send RCC Transcripts

Note: Check with the Roxbury CC Registrar’s Office to ensure that your graduation status is recorded on your transcript before you request a final transcript.

STEP THREE: Apply for Financial Aid

If you are receiving financial aid at RCC, make sure you update your FAFSA. You will also want to find out the CEEB school code(s) of the colleges/universities you are applying to when you transfer. Some colleges may require the CSS Profile. Click the following link for information: CSS Profile
