Secondary Post Secondary CVTE Linkage Consortium

Secondary Post Secondary CVTE Linkage Consortium (formally known as Tech Prep) is a federally funded initiative that assists work-bound youth in achieving their career objectives by pursuing an Associates’ Degree or Technical Certification.  Secondary Post Secondary CVTE Linkage is available to approved Chapter 74 Vocational Technical Education programs and non-Chapter 74 Career & Technical Education programs.

Secondary Post Secondary CVTE Linkage Consortium is a four-year program that aligns the last two years of high school with two-years of post secondary education.  Students must participate in a two-year sequence of related courses in high school.  Agreements (called articulations) between a high school and community college or, a high school and a technical school, permit the granting college credits for specific courses completed in high school.

The High School student must achieve a “B” or better in the articulated course(s) and must meet the general eligibility criteria of the post-secondary school.  The student can enter the college or technical school with as many as six credits already applied to his/her degree or certification.  At the time of college registration, the student must present evidence that s/he completed the Secondary Post Secondary CVTE Linkage (transcript or Secondary Post Secondary Linkage Certificate).
