Massachusetts STEM Week 2019 takes place from October 21, 2019 – October 25, 2019. Organized by the Executive Office of Education and the STEM Advisory Council, it is a statewide effort to boost interest in and awareness of STEM education. This year’s theme is “See Yourself in STEM!” As an institution, RCC is committed to equipping our students with the skills and knowledge required for careers in the rapidly growing STEM fields.
RCC is celebrating STEM Week 2019 by hosting myriad events on-campus. We hope you will join us at the following events, from 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm in the Student Commons (Building 3, 1st) floor, each day:
Monday, October 21, 2019 | Math Activities, Smart Building Technology Demonstration |
Tuesday, October 22, 2019 | 3D Printing and Design Session, Virtual Reality Experience |
Wednesday, October 23, 2019 | Biotechnology, Chemistry & Physics Experiments & Demos |
Thursday, October 24, 2019 | Broadcast Media Technology Demos, Virtual Reality Experience |
Friday, October 25, 2019 | Hihglighting Experiments from RCC Science Laboratories |
To supplement our fantastic on-campus activities for STEM week, we’ve also planned a formal MOU-signing with Cape Cod Community College (CCCC) on October 24, 2019, at 9:00 am, at Plymouth Municipal Airport. This signing will solidify the agreement between RCC and CCCC, providing RCC students with the opportunity to earn a credential from CCCC’s Aviation Maintenance Technology Program. More information on this agreement will be shared over the coming week.
In addition to the RCC-sponsored activities listed above, MASS STEM Hub is holding its STEM Week showcase at the Reggie Lewis Center on Friday, October 25, 2019, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. The exhibition is the culminating event for the weeklong challenge, where students will show their proposed solutions to a series of Zero Waste challenges.
