Pharmacy Technician Program

NEXT SESSION: January 20, 2021    *REMOTE COURSE*

 *This course will be offered remotely. This means that there are scheduled class meeting times for students to utilize Zoom and access live instruction online*

This comprehensive 130-hour program introduces students to the theoretical knowledge and hands-on training necessary to work as pharmacy technicians in retail, hospital, and fulfillment pharmacy settings. Topics include the history of medicine, pharmacy terminology, prescription processing, and compounding, inventory management, and state and federal pharmacy regulation. RCC offers this course in partnership with CVS Pharmacy. The certificate includes 3 components, to be completed within two semesters:

  • Semester 1:
    • Part 1: 90 hours of classroom instruction 
  • Semester 2:
    • Part 2: 30 hours of classroom instruction
    • Part 3: 10 hours of work readiness 

Course Schedule

Semester 1: January 20 – May 3, 2021  | 16 weeks  | Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:00 - 9:30 pm 
Semester 2: May 25 – June 24, 2021  | 5 weeks | Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, 6:00 - 9:30 pm; Saturday 9 - 12:30PM 

Cost: $2,000

*This is the total amount for both semesters and includes books. Cost breakdown: $1,500 for Part 1 and $500 for Part 2-3*

We accept checks, money orders, credit and debit cards. Financial aid and payment plans are not available.

Prerequisites

High School Diploma or GED/HiSET

Certificate

Graduates will be prepared to take the National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) Exam. Upon passing the PTBC exam, graduates will be able to register as Pharmacy Technicians. This program is approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy. 

*Students who fail the PTBC exam have the opportunity to become registered Pharmacy Technicians by interning for 500 hours at a CVS pharmacy.
