Pharmacy Technician Program

NEXT SESSION: SEPTEMBER 1, 2021  *VIRTUAL COURSE*

*This course will be offered virtually. This means that there are scheduled class meeting times for students to utilize Zoom and access live instruction online*

This comprehensive 130-hour program introduces students to the theoretical knowledge and hands-on training necessary to work as pharmacy technicians in retail, hospital, and fulfillment pharmacy settings. Topics include the history of medicine, pharmacy terminology, prescription processing, and compounding, inventory management, and state and federal pharmacy regulation. RCC offers this course in partnership with CVS Pharmacy. The certificate includes 3 components, to be completed within two semesters:

  • Semester 1:
    • Part 1: 90 hours of classroom instruction 
  • Semester 2:
    • Part 2: 30 hours of classroom instruction
    • Part 3: 10 hours of work readiness 

 

COURSE SCHEDULE

Semester 1: September 1 - December 8, 2021  | 16 weeks  | Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:00 - 9:30 pm 
Semester 2: January 19 – March 9, 2021  | 8 weeks | Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:00 - 9:30 pm

 

COST: $1,800

*Tuition does not include books, but includes the cost of the PTCB exam. Cost breakdown: $1,300 for Part 1 and $500 for Part 2-3*

We accept checks, money orders, credit and debit cards. Payment plans will be available. 

 

PREREQUISITES

High School Diploma or GED/HiSET

 

CERTIFICATE

Students will take the National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) Exam and a final exam approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy as part of the course. Upon passing the PTBC exam and/or the state approved exam, graduates will be able to register as Pharmacy Technicians.
