All students enrolled in nine or more credits must participate in a health insurance program. The cost for this health insurance is included in your bill when you begin your classes at RCC and is included for the fall semester of every year. If you have your own insurance and do not wish to be covered through the program provided by the College, you must complete the on-line Health Insurance Waiver Form indicating that you are independently insured. Upon submission and approval of this waiver to the RCC Health Insurer Provider, the charge for insurance will be removed from your bill. For further information regarding this insurance program, visit the RCC website at rcc.mass.edu or visit Health Services in the Student Center, Bldg., 4, Room 313.

Massachusetts General Law requires all full-time students (12 or more credits), and all Health Sciences and International Students to provide proof of immunization against specific diseases. The required immunizations are:

  • Tdap (booster within the past ten years);
  • two doses of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella);
  • three doses of Hepatitis B and two doses of varicella (chickenpox).

Tuberculosis requirements must be completed by all Health Sciences students and International Students. The Enrollment Office will provide students with the Immunization and Health Information Form for completion by the health care provider and the Medical History Record Form for completion by the student.

Project Access is a resource available to all students to provide holistic support to address the non-academic issues that often prevent degree completion. Through Project Access, RCC offers students help with obtaining health insurance, SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits, legal services, housing, and more.

RCC cares about the whole student. We understand that often it is not the challenges of an academic program that prevent students from being successful, but the absence of basic human needs that causes students to abandon post-secondary education. Our goal is to provide our students with a variety of resources and services to help address their non-academic challenges in order that they may complete their degree/certificate.
The Health Services Office is open Monday-Friday from 8:30am-5:00pm. A registered nurse is on duty to provide emergency and routine treatment for common illnesses and injuries, i.e., colds, headaches, sprains, and lacerations. Students with more complex health problems are referred to other health care facilities for more comprehensive care. Health and wellness education and disease prevention are additional activities of Health Services and may include blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, weight management, health fairs, AIDS awareness, and smoking cessation programs. Services are available on a free, walk-in basis.
