RCC and Boston Public Schools Earn State Early College Designation for Multilingual Learners
June 10, 2026

Roxbury Community College (RCC) and Boston Public Schools (BPS) have earned a state early college designation for multilingual learners from the Early College Joint Committee. BPS and RCC’s Early College Consortium for Multilingual Learners is designed to intentionally serve multilingual learners, distinguishing it from early college programs built for the general high school population. The designation, RCC’s first, reflects both institutions' commitment to expanding equitable access to higher education and advances BPS's ongoing goal of bringing early college opportunities to more students across its secondary schools.

When Christelle G. Jean-Louis arrived at RCC in Fall 2023, she described herself as reserved. She came to the Admissions Office with her aunt and was disappointed when she thought she was too late to register for classes. Thankfully, after visiting the Financial Aid Office and speaking with a financial aid counselor, she quickly learned that she could register and that she qualified for free community college, which was then offered through the City’s TFCC program.
